Easter in Florence
According to a tradition first recorded by the ancient Italian chronicler Giovanni Villani, “Scoppio del Carro” should be associated to the time of the first Crusades. On July 15, 1099, following a long siege, Crusaders conquered Jerusalem.
Ranieri, the representative ofthe Catholic Church, broke the news to the Florentines, following the orders of Pazzino di Ranieri de Pazzi. Pazzini, the first man to raise the Christian flag on the walls of the Holy City, was rewarded by the Duke of Buillon (Lower Lorena) with three pieces of flint from the Tomb of Jesus, which were brought to Florence in 1101.

What Do the Florentines Think of Their city?
“The Florentines always think positively and consider themselves lucky to have been born in Florence.
The first to discover touism in Florence were the British, if the 19th century, followed by the French, the Americans and the entire Central Europe travellers. There are more than 5 million tourists currently coming from all over the world to Florence, on an annual basis. Frontiers to Eastern Europe and China have also been opened.

Visiting Florence
Florence, the small “museum-city’ in central Italy is a universal place or better said a place of dialogue between various civilizations, a symbol if peace in the world – a city where colors and notes intertwine fabulously, floating on the portative of this city life where movement, shape and evolution are of the essence.

Visiting Milan
My wife and I spent a few days visiting Milan before we went to Venice in June last year. I found Milan beautiful and the people were so friendly and hospitable.
Milan is pretty expensive for food and drink. But taxis, accommodation etc. were about UK average. To be honest, if you’re from London, the prices may be more on par with what you’re used to anyway. But then, as with most places, it depends on where you choose to dine etc. The restaurants and cafes in the main touristy or fashionable areas are more expensive, but if you head off the beaten track, you’ll find it’s more affordable.

Trip to Venice
Venice is one of the world’s top cultural cities – major architecture and art all over the place. A day trip is pointless, you will see only a tiny fraction and will get cultural indigestion in the process. Give it time or do not bother, enjoy Verona! A week, a month or several years in Venice and you will not have exhausted its variety.
The best time to visit Venice from November through March. You may encounter fog, rain, or the high tides called acque alta, but mild and sunny days are also common. Air fares and hotel prices are lower, too – which means you can allocate your travel budget over a longer period and give Venice the time it deserves.
