Getting around Prague
Municipal transport consists of a well-functioning system of bus and tram lines and three Metro lines, which can take you to all areas of the city. The public transport network also includes a funicular up to Petfin Hill. Tickets are on sale at street ticket-machines, newsagents, some shops, hotels and travel agencies. Tourists can also use short-term tickets valid for 24 hours, 3,7 or 15 days that are available, for example, at the information centres of the company Dopravni podnik and the Prague Information Service.

Prague information
Prague has approximately 1.3 million inhabitants and covers an area of almost 500 square kilometres, It originated around 1000 A.D. and for many years remained a group of independent villages. Under the rule of Charles IV (14th century) medieval Prague experienced its greatest development. At the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries the city gained further renown owing to Emperor Rudolf II. Between 1918 and 1992 Prague was the capital city of Czechoslovakia and since January 1993 has been the capital of the independent Czech Republic.

Prague Tours – Charles Brigde (Karluv most)
For all Its antiquity Charles Bridge is far from being the first structure to bridge the River Vltava, and the name by which we know it these days first appeared only in 1870, when its name was changed from Stone Bridge to Charles Bridge. The fact is that as far back as the 10th century Prague had a bridge, perhaps situated where Manes Bridge stands today. Historical sources refer to a wooden bridge, which most likely withstood the incursions of flooding for more than two hundred years.
