Liverpool’s restaurant and bar scene has blossomed over recent years, so you can choose the place with your taste and budget.
You can find a good variety of trendy restaurants and bars in the Albert Dock which is a five minute walk away. There’s a good restaurant guide that you can get free from tourist centers. Look for a little square booklet – beige and red on front. Some of the best places are on Hope Street.
Frankie and Bennys is nice theres one on the east lancs to. Also good is ASK in Queens Square its Italian and looks v.posh but actually its really nice very reasonable and great food and service.
Caesars Palace on Ranelagh street just a step or two from Lime Street station has a very extensive but not too expensive menu .The food is quite good with substantial portions, it is popular and busy which is a good sign. There is a nice Tapas Bar in Queens Square which is situated behind the Marriot Hotel which you will spot looking across from Lime Street Station.
TSOs is popular too and there is the Italian Kitchen adjacent to the Marriot which is excellent. Doctor Duncans pub, next door to the Italian kitchen has a fine array of real ales and they also do food but I have not tried the food but they have good standards which I would expect would extend to the food.
The most famous Greek restaurant in the city is Zorba’s on the corner of Renshaw St. and Hardman St. It’s been in business for 30 odd years now and is probably the name most Liverpudlians would give you if you asked for the name of a Greek restaurant. If you are in the city center there is a good Greek restaurant called Bachaus on Great Howard St. very close to Costco and the Heritage market it is a bit off the Beaten track and doesn’t look much from the outside.
Japanese food in Sapporo is a great night out, entertainment as well as food. Head towards the anglican cathedral, the restaurant is opposite on Duke St.
Chinese restaurants are good for family meals as you can all share the dishes and they will generally sort a cake, “Happy Birthday” tape, balloons etc, I am thinking of the Cheung Ku by Brunswick Dock or the Tai Pan Boundary Street way.
