Punta Cana is definitely the place to go. The beaches are simply the best,the weather here is fine, sun shining and hardly any clouds in the sky. Its amazing that just a week and half ago, there was horrific rains and wind storms. When we departed the plane, the transportation staff was more than helpful in guiding us to our taxi bus to get to our hotel. They very quite courteous, offering to carry our luggage to the taxi and help us into the van.
I went roughly the same time you plan to go a couple a years ago and the weather was not overly hot, about 25-28 C. You will likely experience some thundershowers during the night which is great cuz it cools the place down.
I’ve stayed twice at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach resort and the rooms are ok but the other amenities are awesome. Beach is a 100 ft from the rooms, a casino at night, golf course on location and 3 other hotels that you can utilize, several restaurants to choose from for your various meals.
The Iberostar Bavaro is in great condition too, contrary to many rumors about the resort. I’ve never been here before so I have nothing to compare to, but the resort looks just as beautiful as I expected it to be. I can’t say that the hotel doesn’t look like it has signs of weathering, but it doesn’t seem like we will have a bad stay here.
The food at this resort is really nice. All the staff at every restaurant are attentive and courteous.
We only took breakfast at the buffet which was more than suffice. The selection of food is vast and pastries and bread is made fresh. There is something for everyone at this buffet – My only gripe about the buffet is that when the resort had more guest the line for the Omelette station was ridiculous and I felt sorry for the one man with no support minding the station.
The Seafood/Stake house restaurants both had a welcoming feel to them. They appeared less formal and were always very full. I think that the resort tried to fit to many tables into this place but nothing untowards happened due to the over crowding so I guess it works fine.
