PRAGUE RESTAURANTS: Essensia

The    former    Baroque Monastery, where this restaurant makes it’s home, represents one of the jewels of the Little Quarter. The serene entrance courtyard, with it’s terracotta, pitched roofs and tree-lined terraces envelope guests in a welcoming embrace as they enter. The   other-worldly   atmosphere, which permeates the whole setting, extends into the five, inter-connected, vaulted, Baroque rooms which form the dining spaces.
Beige marble and a select choice of materials are introduced to the space to create a series of simple and tranquil spaces which hint at the former, monastic use of the building. The restrained setting, quite rightly, puts the focus on the excellent, contemporary Eurasian cuisine with its exotic range of flavors and tastes. An extensive selection of fine wines, housed directly in the cellar spaces, accompany the meals.
For after-dinner drinks guest may retire to the more flamboyant cocktail bar – featuring live music several days a week.
